How many applications a day? The answer is not 'as many as possible'

Past a certain point, each extra application lowers the quality of the previous ones. Here is where to draw the line.

The question comes up constantly, and the honest answer fits in one sentence: as many as you can do properly, which is never a very large number.

The real arithmetic

An application with a serious chance requires reading the posting, checking the employer is really hiring, adapting two or three lines of the resume, writing four paragraphs that could not be sent anywhere else, and filling a form. Budget forty minutes the first time, fifteen once practised, and five if a tool prepared the kit. Six to eight a day is already a demanding pace. Thirty a day simply means nothing was adapted.

Why volume turns against you

Three effects stack. The reply rate on a generic application is very low, so sending many does not compensate. Every send consumes attention you are not putting on the roles that mattered. And above all, fatigue sets in: most job searches do not end on a rejection, they end on exhaustion.

The right indicator

Stop counting sends, count replies. A reply rate under 5% means volume is not the problem: targeting, the resume, or the timing of the send is. Multiplying sends at the same rate only multiplies silence, and silence wears you down.

A limit we impose on ourselves

Aptenda applies a daily cap per search profile, and that cap is not commercial: it holds on the most expensive plans too. Past it, quality drops and reply rate with it. A tool that let you send a hundred applications a day would be selling you your own exhaustion.
