Digital Catapult leads a productive deep tech innovation ecosystem by: • Working with the UK’s world-class research institutions and universities to support the commercial application of research in breakthrough frontier digital technologies. • Providing physical and digital infrastructure for developing, testing and commercialising deep tech in the real world. • Supporting the adoption of frontier technologies by UK businesses through programmes and collaborations. • Connecting high potential startups and early-stage deep tech businesses with business leaders, customers, suppliers and potential funders. • Aligning its interventions to Government policy and working with agencies to support innovation and growth. • Hosting regular events on specific technologies and topics of interest. • Publishing market and technology insights, including research reports, case studies and guides that enable real-world adoption. • Making connection The successful applicant will foster the business adoption of quantum computing in the UK, realising profound economic and societal benefits. The applicant will work on quantum computing feasibility studies and accelerators and will have the opportunities to develop as Digital Catapult increases the scale and scope of our work in quantum technologies. Reporting to the Director of Technology, Quantum, the Quantum Computing Technologist will have responsibility for the following areas: WHAT YOU’LL DO (Duties) • Planning and execution of research into quantum computing applications and algorithms, including demonstrations of technical feasibility, and supporting end users. • Report on research results in blogs, papers and at conferences • Monitor advances in quantum technology to be able to provide definitive and expert advice in quantum computing • Understand and analyse business requirements and evaluate options for quantum computing • Help support strategy development by contributing to technology roadmaps, and the sharing of knowledge and insights WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Experience) • A post graduate qualification in quantum computing • Quantum computing hands-on experience, with quantum machine learning desirable • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research into quantum computing at least at post graduate level, and ideally at post-doc level • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, a very collaborative working style, desire and ability to develop and share ideas • A proactive and self-confident individual who is adaptable and able to cope with ambiguity, changing and evolving priorities whilst being able to identify new opportunities • Experience presenting and communicating quantum computing to business, technical, academic and political audiences Salary:  c. £50,000-60,000 pa (subject to experience) + discretionary bonus + competitive benefits package Deadline for applications:  Thursday September 17, 3 pm BST (we do reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications, so you are encouraged to submit your application at the earliest opportunity) Like the sound of what we do but unsure if this is the right role for you?
