Platform Lead (DevOps / Infrastructure) About Us Are you ready to shape the financial future of a rapidly growing fintech that's transforming lives across Southeast Asia and beyond? We're not your typical company — we're a rocketship! At FINN , established in 2022 by experienced serial founders, we're on a mission to transform financial well-being for underbanked employees. Our product provides early wage access, financial education, budgeting tools, part-time job opportunities, and micro-insurances. We've hit product-market fit and are scaling aggressively across multiple markets. The Role We need a true Platform Lead who stays deep in infrastructure but also guides a small, growing Platform team. This is a heavily hands-on role (70–80% technical) with people leadership (20–30% — 1:1s, code-review ownership, tech direction, mentoring, team velocity). If you love architecting production-grade cloud infrastructure yourself and helping engineers around you level up, this is for you. You'll own the infrastructure that powers a high-growth fintech with high-throughput production systems, serving hundreds of thousands of users across Southeast Asia and Africa. We're in the middle of a major infrastructure maturity push: closing IaC gaps, hardening CI/CD, improving observability, and preparing our platform for rapid expansion across multiple markets. This isn't a role where you manage dashboards or sit in meetings all day. You'll architect, build, and operate critical cloud infrastructure — while setting the technical direction for the Platform squad and growing the team. Future growth into Head of Platform / Infrastructure is realistic for the right person. What You'll Do Technical (70–80%) • Own and operate cloud infrastructure — compute, networking, identity, and security controls — using Infrastructure-as-Code • Manage container orchestration workloads, including cluster upgrades, deployment management, and autoscaling • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines — automated testing, deployment automation, and quality gates • Drive observability — implement and improve monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing across all services • Harden security posture — cloud security posture management, automated scanning in CI, access policies, network security, and contributing toward industry security certifications • Manage multi-cloud infrastructure — we run workloads across multiple cloud providers • Operate messaging infrastructure — event-driven architectures, including retry strategies and dead-letter queue management • Standardize market launches — build repeatable infrastructure provisioning so new markets can go live in days, not weeks • Participate in on-call rotation — respond to production incidents and drive root-cause analysis and prevention Leadership (20–30%) • Set technical direction for the Platform squad — define the infrastructure roadmap, make build-vs-buy decisions, and establish engineering standards • Run weekly 1:1s with platform engineers — coach, unblock, and help them grow • Own code review across the platform domain — ensure quality, share knowledge, and maintain consistency • Keep platform velocity high — prioritize work, remove blockers, and ensure the team ships reliably • Mentor and develop the team — create an environment where engineers do their best work • Support the wider engineering team — be the go-to person for infrastructure questions, unblock developers, and create self-service tooling • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership — translate business needs into infrastructure strategy • Contribute to hiring — help interview and assess platform engineering candidates as the team grows Must-Have Experience • 7+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles • Team leadership experience — formally or informally leading a small infrastructure/platform team (mentoring, 1:1s, technical direction) • Strong cloud infrastructure expertise — compute, networking, identity management, queuing, monitoring, storage (we use AWS primarily) • Container orchestration in production — cluster operations, package management, debugging, resource management (we use Kubernetes) • Infrastructure-as-Code at scale — writing, reviewing, and managing IaC with proper state management and modularization (we use Terraform) • CI/CD pipeline design — deployment automation, testing integration, and deployment strategies (blue-green, canary) • Linux systems administration — comfortable debugging at the OS level • Monitoring and observability — setting up alerting, dashboards, log aggregation, and incident response • Security mindset — experience with access control best practices, network security, secrets management • Strong communication — able to explain infrastructure decisions to non-infra engineers, present technical strategies to leadership, and mentor effectively • Reliable internet and hardware , able to work ≥35h/week with decent overlap with UTC+8 (Singapore time) Nice-to-Have • Multi-cloud experience (GCP, Firebase, or similar alongside AWS) • GitOps deployment experience (e.g. ArgoCD or similar) • Event streaming operations and tuning (e.g. Kafka) • Compliance frameworks — ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar • Cost optimization — experience reducing cloud spend without sacrificing reliability • Pen testing coordination or security audit experience • Experience at a fintech or financial services company • Experience with multi-region or multi-market infrastructure • Previous experience growing a platform/infrastructure team (hiring, onboarding, defining team processes) What We Use Today Here's what we work with today — familiarity is a bonus, not a requirement: • Cloud : AWS (primary) + GCP/Firebase • Orchestration : Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, ArgoCD • IaC : Terraform • CI/CD : GitHub Actions • Messaging : Kafka, SQS • Monitoring : Grafana, Sentry, CloudWatch • Security : Prowler, Trivy, SonarCloud, Cloudflare WAF • Backend : Node.js/TypeScript, Firebase Cloud Functions • Frontend : Angular, Ionic/Capacitor Why Join • Real ownership — you'll shape the infrastructure and the team that builds it • Leadership trajectory — clear path from Platform Lead to Head of Platform/Infrastructure as the company scales • Small team, big impact — a growing platform team, no layers of bureaucracy • Growth trajectory — rapidly expanding across Southeast Asia and Africa • Modern stack — container orchestration, IaC, GitOps, event-driven architecture • Fully remote — work from anywhere with good overlap to Asia timezones #EMEA #APJ • Competitive salary + meaningful equity (early-stage package) Originally posted on Himalayas
