This is a high impact role that requires both technical fluency and business acumen, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, align diverse stakeholders, and drive decisions across teams.</p> <p>You will operate at the intersection of Technology, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Product, and Business operations, bringing structure and clarity to programs that span multiple domains and functions. Whether standing up new capabilities, improving governance practices, or scaling operational processes, you will be the connective tissue that keeps programs moving, risks surfaced, and stakeholders informed.</p> <h2><strong>What you'll do</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Own end-to-end program management for large, high-visibility Enterprise Technology, AI &amp; Data initiatives, including scope definition, roadmap development, dependency management, resource planning, execution tracking, and change management.</li> <li>Lead enterprise applications and operational transformation programs that improve business processes, increase scalability, and reduce friction for internal teams.</li> <li>Partner with business and technical stakeholders to clarify goals, define success metrics, evaluate trade-offs, and translate strategy into actionable plans.</li> <li>Drive operating rhythms across programs, including status reporting, RAID management, milestone reviews, and executive-ready communications.</li> <li>Identify program risks, gaps, and blockers early; recommend practical options and drive timely decisions with stakeholders and senior leaders.</li> <li>Improve the consistency and effectiveness of program delivery by strengthening governance, documentation, planning practices, and cross-functional collaboration.</li> <li>Support the adoption of AI-enabled workflows and automation opportunities that enhance productivity across enterprise systems and operations.</li> <li>Contribute to a high-trust, async-first culture by modeling GitLab values, clear communication, and strong remote collaboration practices.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong>What you'll bring</strong></h2> <ul> <li>7+ years of program management experience, with a strong track record delivering cross-functional Enterprise Technology, AI &amp; Data programs</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to simplify complex processes and build structured approaches to ambiguous problems</li> <li>Experience influencing without authority, earning trust with senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across functions, including Finance, Legal, Sales, and Product</li> <li>Comfortable operating at both a strategic level and in the details, switching between executive communication and hands-on program execution as needed</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting program status, risks, and recommendations to ETA leadership and Executive audiences</li> <li>Familiarity with Enterprise Tech domains such as business systems, data, AI, security, infrastructure, or enterprise architecture (depth in one or more areas preferred)</li> <li>Experience running or actively participating in an Architecture Review Board, technical governance forum, or similar design/decision review process is strongly preferred.</li> <li>Proficiency with program and project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or similar); PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification is a plus</li> <li>Experience working in a remote, globally distributed environment with a bias toward async collaboration and clear documentation</li> </ul> <h2><strong>About the team</strong></h2> <p>The <strong>CIO Enterprise Technology &amp; AI</strong> team is GitLab's central engine for improving the systems, data, and AI capabilities that support how we run the business. The team designs and operates enterprise applications, data platforms, corporate IT services, and AI-enabled workflows that help our globally distributed GitLab team members work effectively and securely.</p> <p>You'll join a team that partners closely with <strong>Finance, Sales, Marketing, People, Product, and Security</strong> to turn business strategy into scalable, reliable technology solutions. The work is broad, visible, and deeply cross-functional, which makes strong program leadership essential.
