We deliver tangible results for global businesses, their investors and stakeholders when complex problems arise and critical decisions need to be made. Interpath is agile, independent, and conflict-free and our passion for doing what’s right, every time, sets us apart.
Our diverse teams provide specialist technical knowledge combined with deep sector experience across our service line specialisms. Since our foundation in 2021, Interpath has grown rapidly, and we now have a presence across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, BVI, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Barbados, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and South Africa. By 2030 we aim to be one of the world’s leading advisory firms with a truly global footprint.
Interpath’s Deals team supports clients throughout the deal lifecycle, providing financial due diligence, carve-out and valuation support on domestic and cross-border transactions. We are looking for a talented Senior Associate, to join our newly launched Transaction Services team in Cape Town and deliver projects for an exciting mix of clients including top tier Private Equity and Corporate clients. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a start-up team within an established and successful business.
This role sits within Interpath's Transaction Services team, where you will work on financial due diligence engagements for both buy-side and sell-side transactions alongside Interpath's global deal teams. As a Senior Associate, you will work across the entire deal lifecycle, delivering projects for high-profile clients and collaborating closely with colleagues across M&A, Value Creation and Debt Advisory.
A key part of the role is building and owning the underlying financial analysis that supports every conclusion in a due diligence report, ensuring work is delivered accurately, insightfully and on time. You will also benefit from ongoing training and development, in addition to mentoring from our Directors and Managing Directors, helping you build your network and gain experience in business development and stakeholder management.
Responsibilities
• Build the underlying financial analysis on which the team's conclusions rest, covering trading performance, margins, and other key measures.
• Prepare working capital, net debt, and other supporting schedules and exhibits.
• Reconcile the analysis back to source records, including management accounts, statutory accounts, and the trial balance.
• Prepare tables and charts for the report to the standard the team requires.
• Maintain the information request list and flag items that have not been received.
• Support the question-and-answer process and help prepare for management meetings.
• Addresses review points thoroughly, resolving root causes.
Experience
• Qualified accountant or finalist — CA (ICAI), CA (SA), ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Around 3 to 5 years of experience, of which at least 2 in financial due diligence, or in audit with demonstrable deal exposure.
• Advanced Excel skills, coupled with a strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under time pressure.
• Understands the purpose of a quality of earnings analysis, not only the mechanics of preparing one.
• Clear written English to report standard.
• Demonstrates a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement through feedback.
Desirable Experience
• Big Four audit or transaction services background.
• Experience using data analytics and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, or Power BI.
• CFA Level I or progress towards it.
• Experience working with UK or European reporting conventions.
