Foreman Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 Position Classification: Full-Time Regular About This Opportunity Rockford is seeking an experienced and motivated Trades Foreman to represent our company on trades projects while leading and supporting our Trades Carpenters in the field. This role is responsible for overseeing daily self-perform operations, coordinating and supervising subcontractor activities, and ensuring a safe, productive, and high-quality work environment. The Trades Foreman serves as a key point of communication between the jobsite and Trades leadership, providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and scheduling needs. Success in this role requires strong leadership, a commitment to safety, hands-on construction expertise, and proficiency with technology and project management tools, including Procore for reporting, RFIs, submittals, and schedule management. Key Responsibilities • Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion. • Manage carpentry division and/or trade contractors of the project as assigned. • Schedule subcontractors and/or team members to ensure the efficient completion of the project. • Build and maintain project schedule as needed. • Evaluate team members and determine how each team member can best be utilized on a job site. • Read blueprints and ensure work meets current building code requirements. • Review & interpret contract documents. • Facilitate and makes necessary changes to ensure that the work is completed on time. • Works alongside team members on the job site. • Assist management to track & report job progress and manage updates in project management software. • Monitor contract work to verify it is in compliance with the current project documents and program standards. • Actively manage & maintain safety on the site. • Responsible for monitoring and requesting manpower, material, and tools needed for each construction job. • Monitor and approve the use of overtime for team members. • Monitor hours and material for additional work and communicates change order needs to Project Manager. • Maintain and process forms for change orders, bulletin pricing and added work. • Knowledge of all the jobs onsite and the ability to fulfill the role of a Trades Carpenter when not acting in the role of a Trades Foreman. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Min of 5 years of experience as a carpenter or in a similar role. • Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks. • Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and Project. • Ability to communicate with co-workers, subcontractors, project representatives, and clients. • Excellent people and time management skills. The ability to manage a crew on a jobsite and give direction. • Experience in rough and finish carpentry with basic maintenance knowledge. • Ability to read and understand blueprints and knowledge of building codes. • Safe and effective use of power and hand tools. • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s license. • Physical effort including reaching, lifting, bending, stretching, climbing, and exposure to dust and noise. • Acquire all necessary certifications for the operation of owned and rented equipment, i.e., lifts, boom trucks and bobcats.
