About the Role:
We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Senior Mechanical Engineer (f/m/d) who can take ownership of complex mechanical designs from concept through detailed engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and validation.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, extensive practical design experience, and advanced SolidWorks capabilities.
Responsibilities:
• Take technical ownership of complex mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and validation
• Develop robust mechanical designs for high-precision scientific and industrial equipment
• Create and maintain high-quality SolidWorks parts, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
• Perform tolerance analysis and define appropriate fits, interfaces, geometric tolerances, and dimensional requirements
• Translate system-level requirements into clear mechanical requirements, interfaces, and manufacturable design solutions
• Define manufacturing requirements and work closely with suppliers and Procurement on manufacturability, materials, tolerances, and quality
• Develop, test, and improve prototypes and actively contribute to design reviews and technical decision-making
Required skills:
• BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience
• Advanced professional proficiency in SolidWorks is mandatory
• Demonstrable experience designing complex mechanical assemblies, bespoke machinery, or technically demanding systems
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including manufacturing methods, materials, tolerance analysis, GD&T, DfM/DfA, structural design, and mechanical interface
• Strong ownership of mechanical designs and technical decisions
We value:
• CSWP – Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional certification
• Experience in industries such as scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, aerospace, precision engineering, special-purpose machinery, optics, or similar fields
• Experience with high-precision systems and/or exposure to vacuum, cryogenic, thermal, optical, or vibration-sensitive applications
• Excellent engineering judgment and the ability to identify and improve weak or risky design solutions
• Practical understanding of how components are manufactured, assembled, tested, and serviced
