Job Summary The CNC 5-Axis Machinist/Operator will run established jobs on 5-axis machining centers equipped with Siemens controls. This role is responsible for producing quality parts, monitoring the machining process, checking dimensions, and communicating issues promptly Second Shift Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:30pm – 12:00am Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Operate 5-axis CNC machining centers using approved programs and setup instructions. • Load and unload parts, confirm proper seating and clamping, and monitor machining cycles. • Perform routine tool changes and approved tool offset adjustments within established limits. • Check parts at the required intervals using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other measuring equipment. • Follow drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements to maintain part dimensions and finish. • Recognize tool wear, abnormal machine conditions, and parts trending toward tolerance limits; stop and notify the appropriate person when needed. • Maintain clean machines and work areas and follow all safety procedures. • Communicate job status, problems, and handoff information to the next shift. • Additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor may include department transfers to meet production needs. Required Skills & Attributes • Experience operating CNC machining centers; 5-axis experience required. • Experience with Siemens CNC controls preferred. • Ability to read drawings and use precision measuring tools. • Understanding machining practices, tool wear, and dimensional tolerances. • Ability to follow established processes, work independently, and ask for support when a process moves outside approved limits. • Aerospace or other tight-tolerance machining experience required. • Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed. Education And Experience • High school diploma or GED. • 2+ Years of Experience • Machining apprenticeship, technical certificate, or associate degree in machining or manufacturing technology preferred, but equivalent hands-on experience is accepted. • Training or demonstrated experience with Siemens CNC controls required (preferably 840D or Sinumerik One). • Additional training in 5-axis machining, blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection methods is a plus • Ability to machine parts to +/- 0.0005”. • Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints to the needed specification in creating a part. Physical Job Requirements • Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours. • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. • Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work. • Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. • Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed. • Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned. The final rate will be determined based on experience and a successful interview process.
