At Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU), our core values drive our commitment to a dynamic and supportive work environment that fosters both personal and professional growth. This summer internship is designed to give students the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working with three of our specialized teams: Water Resources , Civil Design , and Bridge Engineering .
Over the course of the program, you will rotate between teams, contributing to real projects under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will gain exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines, from hydrologic analysis and multimodal transportation design to structural engineering for bridges and other transportation structures.
Key Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to:
• Assist in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for transportation projects, including small and large basin studies.
• Support stormwater quality analysis and help determine best management practices for construction and post-construction phases.
• Participate in civil engineering design for multimodal and highway projects, including roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure.
• Conduct fieldwork, data collection, and analysis across multiple project types.
• Assist in the analysis and design of transportation structures , such as bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts.
• Prepare reports, specifications, construction documents, and presentations.
• Utilize industry software and tools, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation OpenRoads Designer, and structural analysis programs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
