ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you have hands-on experience keeping trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment running? Quantum Fuel Systems is hiring a technician who brings mechanical know-how and a problem-solving mindset, and we’ll train you on the specialized inspection and service work that makes this role unique.
You’ll be part of a small but growing, skilled team supporting clean-energy fuel systems: natural gas, hydrogen, and alternative fuels, used in commercial vehicles across the country and beyond. The work is varied, field-based, and genuinely important: you’ll help ensure these systems are safe, certified, and performing.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Inspect, set up, and test compressed-gas cylinders in Virtual pipeline trailers: we’ll train you on this
• Troubleshoot and repair Quantum products at our Midland, Texas facility
• Conduct maintenance on customer vehicles, trailers, and fuel systems
• Write service reports and help document procedures
• Occasionally travel domestically to perform inspections and service
YOUR BACKGROUND FITS IF YOU’VE WORKED IN
• Truck, trailer, or heavy equipment repair
• Industrial maintenance or assembly
• Automotive or fleet service technology
• Field service or installation work
WHAT WE REQUIRE
• High school diploma or equivalent; ASE certification or technical school a plus
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Class A CDL (or ability to obtain one)
• Comfort with Microsoft Office basics (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Fluency in English, written and verbal
• Willingness to travel and work in varied field conditions
• Must be able to pass the Texas RRC CNG Service Installation exam (we’ll support you)
Bonus: Experience with high-pressure gas systems or an existing TRRC CNG certification will set you apart. Certified by TRRC for CNG service installation is also a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the employee to work comfortably and safely in a shop environment. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to work at heights approaching 30’ above the floor from a stationary work platform. This position involves occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear.
