Job Description:
Chief accountant includes overseeing the accounting department, developing financial strategies, making investment decisions, helping company leadership with strategic planning, and making sure the company complies with the financial regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operations of all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Fixed Assets, month-end accruals, and provisions.
• Responsible for year-end and month-end closing and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end management financial reports.
• Review and approve all payment transactions, including reimbursements, payments on account, vouchers, checks, etc.
• Handle year-end closing and monthly financial statements.
• Liaise with external government institutions and act as the main contact for internal and external audits.
• Respond to all queries related to financial matters.
• Recommend and draft financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Maintain the accounting manual up to date and ensure adherence to the manual and all policies and procedures.
• Review and approve journal vouchers.
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Coordinate the accurate and timely payment of suppliers.
• Prepare yearly budgets.
• Administer all balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Act as the point of contact for queries related to employee and supplier payments.
• Review accounts payable and weekly check runs.
• Determine the proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers, and documents for business transactions.
• Responsible for distributing financial statements and cost center reports.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience, with at least 2 years at the supervisory level. Background in Logistics or IT is preferred.
• Experience in creating budgets, accounting guidelines, year-end accounts, and liaising with external auditors.
• Proficiency in Arabic and English is required, both spoken and written.
• Very good user of ERP systems.
