THE ROLE - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play an important role in delivering projects. You’ll combine strong technical capability with practical engineering judgement, working alongside our mechanical engineers and specialists from across Advitech’s broader engineering, environmental, risk and digital teams to develop practical, innovative solutions for our clients. Our work is diverse and often multidisciplinary. You might be solving a complex equipment or operational challenge, designing or modifying plant and mechanical systems, improving safety and reliability, supporting the development of new infrastructure, or helping a client introduce an emerging technology. Increasingly, our projects also bring together traditional engineering expertise with digital technologies, data and new approaches to how assets are designed, operated and maintained. This is more than a project delivery role. You’ll have the opportunity to lead challenging engineering projects, work directly with clients, mentor and develop other engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and direction of our Mechanical Engineering team. You’ll work across disciplines and draw on the breadth of capability within Advitech to tackle problems that rarely sit neatly within a single area of engineering. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Leadership & Project Delivery • Deliver engineering projects to a high technical standard, meeting legislative requirements, relevant standards, client expectations, and Advitech's Integrated Management System (IMS). • Promote technical rigor and continuous improvement across project delivery. Client Engagement & Business Development • Engage with clients to understand their business challenges and technical requirements. • Support business development initiatives and contribute to expanding Advitech's Mechanical Engineering services. Commercial & Project Management • Ensure efficient project execution through effective planning, scheduling, and resource management. • Contribute to business performance objectives and strategic initiatives. People Leadership & Development • Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff within the Mechanical Group. • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment. Strategy & Compliance • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Mechanical Group's multi-year strategy. • Support quality, performance, compliance, and business management systems. To be successful in this role, you will meet the following essential criteria: • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia • Relevant industry experience of 7 to 10 years • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain CPEng, RPEQ & RPEV if required • Good understanding and adherence to Mechanical legislative, technical and legal requirements and industry standards • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with superior reporting writing experience • Current drivers licence Mechanical engineers meeting the following desirable criteria will be considered favourably: • Demonstrated leadership, business development and project management skills • Ability to control business unit costs and manage budgets • Local, consulting experience plus experience in continuous manufacturing • A valid construction white card for site visits ABOUT THE POSITION Position Type:  Permanent but flexible - we will consider Full Time and Part Time applicants Reports To:  Discipline Lead - Mechanical Engineering Location: Advitech office, located in the Emergent Group Headquarters, Newcastle.
